You asked, we answered

Are budgies an easy pet to look after?

Though budgies are considered easy pets to care for, I highly recommend doing lots of research before you buy your bird. There are countless things out there that could potentially harm your bird and it is much easier to know what your doing rather than having to learn the hard way, budgies are very delicate animals.

What should I do with my budgie when I bring it home?

There are many different opinions on what you can do here. All I can say is if you already have a tame budgie that you bought from someone, do it how you did it last time, if it works, it works. But if you have never had a budgie before, I can recommend having everything ready for when the budgie comes home, it is good to interact with your bird straight away, with our birds in particular, don't take them straight outside the cage, since wings are not clipped, but do try to handle them, if the bird is reluctant, just leave it, but the next day try to show the bird the house is no place to fear.

Should I buy 1 or 2 budgies?

Budgies are naturally flock animals, if you really want a budgie but know you won't be able to spend at least a few hours a day with them, it is encouraged that you get it a friend. If budgies (or any parrot breed) are left to themselves for too long, they can become aggressive and start biting. On the other hand, if you work from home and would be able to visit and take your bird out of it's cage with you then it is perfectly fine to have one by itself.
